Parrots For Dummies π 2nd Edition ✍ Nikki Moustaki
While parrots have a historical reputation for being a pirate’s best friend, in the modern-day US - where birds are the nation’s third most popular household pet- thousands of landlubbers are in on the act❕
That’s not surprising❕
Parrots are as affectionate, friendly, and fun to be with as a dog or cat. They are also relatively low-maintenance, with no rude 5 a.m. awakenings with demands for food or punishing walks.
Renowned avian care and behavior consultant Nikki Moustaki and her book: Parrots For Dummies (2nd Edition) are your friendly guide to the colorful world of this intelligent and chatty pet.
P.S. If you think this book seems familiar, you’re probably right. The Dummies team updated the cover and design to give the book a fresh feel, but the content is the same as the previous release of Freshwater Aquariums For Dummies. The book you see here shouldn’t be considered a new or updated product.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Avian care and behavior consultant, Nikki Moustaki, M.A., M.F.A., is the author of more than 17 books on bird care and behavior, including Parakeets For Dummies and Finches For Dummies, and is the author of a bird-themed memoir, The Bird Market of Paris. In her practice as an avian consultant, she works with clients to heal the strained relationships between themselves and their feathered friends.
Nikki has been involved with birds since 1988 when she became active in several bird clubs and began breeding and showing birds. She had several dozens of parrots at that time, many of them rescues, as her hobby grew. She worked in pet shops for seven years and eventually went on to manage an all-bird shop.
These many years spent working in pet shops, breeding birds, and traveling to bird shows gave her unique insight into the various issues that people encounter with their avian companions. She acquired a variety of birdy mentors, including veterinarians, breeders, and rescuers, and received invaluable hands-on experience through them, as well as through her own birds, who were her best teachers.
Nikki has kept lovebirds, cockatiels, budgies (parakeets), lories, multiple species of macaws, Amazons, conures, Brotorgeris, and poicephalus, along with an African grey, finches, and canaries. She became aware of the bird overpopulation problem around 1993, stopped breeding birds, and began helping in rescue efforts.
